learning strategies for life
You love your child, and they love you, but do they love to learn? Children are naturally curious, but when they face challenges on their learning journey, such as dyslexia, dysgraphia or ADHD, they can lose confidence over time. By now, you have probably tried to support them in every way you can, but ultimately you are their parent - rather than their teacher - and you’d like it to stay that way! If your child is in primary school and/or transitioning to senior school (Year 7/8), doubtless you’re all are beginning to feel the pressure. If you’re not sure where to turn for support, don’t worry, you’re in the right place.
The most important thing your child needs right now is a deep understanding of their own learning preferences. This is the key that unlocks the door to their own unique toolbox of independent learning strategies. From 1:1 support to a full diagnostic assessment, I can help your child reconnect with their love of learning and develop strategies that will support them now and in the future.
helping your child build confidence and motivation
I absolutely love the work I do and apply a supportive, encouraging and enthusiastic approach to each individual child. I experienced dyslexia myself and struggled to access parts of the school curriculum, making me feel ‘less than’ in many situations. This experience set me on the path to teaching children with learning differences because I want to support them to overcome self-doubt and low self-esteem by unlocking their own potential. In 2010 I embarked on a two-year diploma to teach and assess children with learning difficulties.
I have since worked with hundreds of children with a range of learning needs, so I am able to tailor lessons to support each child’s specific profile. I also understand the different cognitive difficulties a child may be experiencing, so I not only support them to access the curriculum but also provide strategies they can use in the classroom to overcome their challenges. My lessons are child-led, helping them build their confidence and finally feel a sense of agency over their learning and motivation to succeed.
